A family and business legacy.

On February 4, 2025, the Barcelona Economic Circle hosted the presentation of the book "Joan Llonch i Salas. Entrepreneur, patron, and Catalan politician," a biography that covers three generations of textile workers in Sabadell, reviewing the life and work of our founder, Mr. Joan Llonch Salas.

The legacy of Sabadell native Joan Llonch i Salas was acknowledged this afternoon in the Círculo de Economía auditorium at the presentation of the book "Joan Llonch i Salas. Entrepreneur, patron, and Catalan politician," presented by its president, Jaume Guardiola, former CEO of Banc Sabadell and former senior executive at BBVA. An event that, given Llonch i Salas' past—he served on the board of Banc Sabadell until becoming president (1976)—was attended by the bank's top brass—Josep Oliu, Pedro Fontana, Carles Ventura, and Xavier Comerma—and which did not miss the opportunity to continue the bank's resilience.

Desde los inicios

Thanks to the family

Born on February 9, 1902, in Sabadell, Joan Llonch Salas was the firstborn of a family deeply connected to the textile industry. From a young age, he trained as an apprentice and projected his influence beyond the industrial sector, becoming a prominent figure in the political, financial, and cultural spheres of his time.

During the ceremony, his grandson, Mr. Joan Llonch-Andreu, paid tribute to both his grandfather and the family business. He emotionally emphasized that "his grandfather would be very proud to see that Folgarolas continues to exist, producing high-quality fabrics for fashion." His words reflect the commitment of current generations to the values of excellence and tradition that inspired Joan Llonch-Salas.

At Folgarolas Téxtil, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Mr. Joan Llonch Andreu for his dedication, his moving speech, and for keeping alive in all of us the innovative, ethical, and family spirit that has guided our company's history since its inception.

Thank you for joining us on this journey!

Regarding Llonch i Salas, Manuel Costa, president of the Ars i editor Foundation, highlighted three reasons why the Sabadell businessman left a legacy, not only in the city but also for his impact on the Catalan scene: his transversality in his involvement in economic, employer, and cultural entities; for being an industrialist—Llonch SA, today Vapor Llonch, Folgarolas Téxtil, Mina de Aguas de Sabadell, today Aigües de Sabadell, among others—who helped create jobs; and for being a "living example" of that "enlightened bourgeoisie that is currently in the process of dispersion."

This presentation reaffirms our commitment: we continue to work with the same passion that drove Joan Llonch Salas more than a century ago, offering fabrics that combine tradition, quality, and creativity.
